Welcome to Spanda Institute Online studies

After a welcome note from Nina Vukas, Spanda Institute founder, we invite you to join us for a short Sankalpa meditation, to set your personal intention for this course. This part also contains your first class with us - a Grounding Slow Flow to prepare you for the studies ahead.

Yoga Philosophy in Daily Life

This lecture builds on the Yoga History and Tradition session from our 200-hour program, delving deeper into key yogic texts, the branches of yoga derived from them, as well as the concepts of the koshas and gunas.

Originally developed for our Yoga Therapy Training (you may notice references to yoga therapy), this lecture is also a valuable and essential addition to our advanced YTT curriculum.

Embodied Calm: Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Nidra

This module adds another valuable tool to your teaching toolkit, focusing on how to guide various Embodied Calm Yoga Nidra classes. Whether offered as a standalone session or integrated into a movement-based class, this training will equip you with the skills to create deeply restorative and calming experiences for your students.

The Principles of Movement Biomechanics

This module is provides an in-depth exploration of how the body moves, focusing on the foundational concepts of osteokinematics, load and force distribution, core stability, spinal alignment, functional movement, and biomechanical tension lines. You will learn to integrate these principles into yoga and other movement practices, as well as daily life for improved mobility, strength, and injury prevention.

Prenatal Yoga Essentials

One of the essential skills for any yoga teacher with a 500-hour diploma is the ability to adapt their teaching to meet the needs of students from all walks of life—including pregnant women. This module provides you with the foundational knowledge and tools to confidently modify asanas for pregnancy and teach specialised Prenatal Yoga classes.

For those looking to dive deeper and gain a full certification in Prenatal Yoga, you’re invited to join Gea for our annual 95-hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). Expand your expertise and make a meaningful difference in the lives of pregnant students.

Spanda Vinyasa - Chakra Flow

With Chakra Flow, we dive into the subtleties of the chakra system, aiming to demystify it as something purely esoteric. Instead, we approach it as a practical map for understanding the different qualities of our body and mind and how they resonate together.

Accessible Yoga

Accessible Yoga offers inclusive and adaptive yoga practices tailored to meet the needs of individuals of all abilities, ages, and body types. The intention is to create a welcoming space where everyone can experience the transformative benefits of yoga, regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges. 

Pranayama in Depth

This module delves into the science and practice of pranayama, exploring its physiological, energetic, and mental effects. You will learn advanced breathing techniques, their underlying mechanics, and their applications for health, balance, and self-regulation. The module covers breathing anatomy and physiology, the role of breath in managing stress and emotions, and practical approaches for integrating these practices into your classes. 

Meditation and Relaxation Techniques

In this module, we will explore a range of meditation and relaxation practices designed to calm the mind, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. From mindfulness and guided visualisation to practices such as body scanning and progressive muscle relaxation, this module equips you with tools to deepen their inner awareness and facilitate profound states of rest and restoration. Emphasis is placed on accessible methods suitable for diverse needs and levels of experience.
